Last year I did more wedding cakes than any other year here so far- and though it wasn’t a ton. I was excited for new challenges.
This was the year when everyone wanted the cake inside to be chocolate- and I can’t say as I blame them- it is my favorite too!
But this was the first wedding cake I had made that was covered in chocolate ganache- YUM! The slight bitterness of the chocolate in contrast to the sweetness of the cake was delicious!
This cake had a different filling in every layer- that made things fun! And the bottom layer being white with ruffles was a nice contrast to the dark ones above!
I was very dissapointed, as was the bride that the professional photographs were poor and so the only photo I have of the happy couple with the cake is one I snagged off Instagram– I hope they don’t mind.
I was very pleased with the way this cake turned out and it and it weighed a ton! I would say the whole cake weighed in at about 18 kg and I was sore for a few days after having carefully carried it to the car and into the kitchen where I had to assemble it.
The scariest part was when 2 guys had to carry the table it was on to the correct location- wow- did I hold my breath!
I just adored the cake stand the bride got for the occasion and was so excited when she let me keep that for future cakes. It makes a perfect base for outdoors weddings or ones with a rustic feel!
And so best of wishes to the happy couple!
