Every Mom of 3 little ones needs a day off occasion. And I had felt my need for one coming on. So my husband gave me a free day and I headed to Riga with a plan of things I hoped to do.
- Go to ball gown exhibit
- Go to Beze Bakery or some other quiet spot to have time to sketch for my new silk scarf design.
- Find Robert’s Book Store.
The weather was perfect. The exhibit amazing and inspiring. The bookstore a gem! And the bakery – perfect for a quiet afternoon for sketching!
Where: Brivibas 76 (entrance is on side from Stabu ielu) A bit tricky to find- but the Coffee Inn workers were quick to point me to the door down from them.
What: A quiet bakery with excellent, creative choices. I had the pistachio eclair and the RĪGAS PREILENE cake (the one that won the prize). I am a picky cake eater since I make hundreds o cakes each year and I look for something different. So I was pleased to find choices that were unique. I was not impressed by the eclair I am dissapointed to say- I loved the way it looked. But the filling left me dissapointed. Next time I would sample some of their other unique eclair options. The Preilene cake is very light, fluffy and huge. It is like eating a huge fruity marshmallow with fresh berries scattered throughout.
Why go: This bakery has a nice feel about it- it is rustic, yet modern. You can have the esteemed Illy coffee and get some nice cakes or sweets while chatting or working.
